This week is designed to make dancers grow in their technical, improvisational and performing skills. We will approach Anasma’s signature style “liquid fusion”, through the spectrum of the elements: WATER, FIRE, EARTH, AIR and WOOD. This will enable dancers to tap into different types of energy and give variety to their interpretation of motion and emotion. Each day will be based on one element. The first part of the day will focus on technique, drills and exploration, and the second part of the day we will turn combos into a choreography, based on the work done early that day.

Anasma’s biography:
Anasma is a Dancer, Teacher, Choreographer and Artistic Director. To her, dance is an expression of the self and of the soul that enables each dancer to share their deepest emotions and to be in the Now.
Drawing from her cross-training in multiple arts forms (Bellydance, Hip Hop, Acting, Salsa, Wushu, Flamenco, Modern Jazz, Contemporary Simonson technique). Half Tunisian and half Vietnamese, living between Paris and New York City, Anasma was naturally drawn to mixing art forms to express who she is through performance and teaching. Thus her World Dance fusions (Hip Hop Bellydance Liquid fusion, Wushu bellydance, Salsa bellydance…) are a mix between the ethnic and the urban components of her personal background and her present life.
Seen in five continents and more than twenty-five countries, Anasma currently tours Europe, North and South America and Asia to teach and perform. Anasma is featured in numerous performance DVDs, instructional DVDs and CDs.
Since 1997, Anasma has performed and taught in dance festivals, intensives, theater shows, TV shows and concerts. From 2006 to 2009, Anasma worked with Bellyqueen as one of their principal dancers. In 2008, Anasma co-founded the New York Theatrical Bellydance Conference with Ranya Renee, and she is currently co-directing the second annual large-scale conference scheduled for July 2011. In 2011, she is awarded by the Unique Arts Award for the “Most creative solo performance”.
